Going through the back issues of the Adoremus Bulletin that were mailed to me two weeks ago, I ran into this article from Carolyn Foster in the November '04 Issue. Really good reading. Enjoy!

I can't believe this is the translation we use at Mass. This is pathetic. Check this out!

What happened to our friend the "New Gasparian", Fr. Keyes? I went to his blog a few minutes ago and it suddenly turned up a dead link. Anyone with info please let me know.

THIS IN from our good friend FR. JEFF KEYES
at THE NEW GASPARIAN

Fr. Jeff Keyes recently posted in his blog, The New Gasparian, the Zenit article on "Instrumentum Laboris for the Synod on the Eucharist". You who are musicians: scroll down to paragraph 60 on liturgical music. It's saying what Rome's been saying for decades yet many have been ignoring.

MUSIC for SUNDAY XVII at HOLY GHOST CHURCH

Just back from a weekend of camping at Burlingame, and commuting from there to Holy Ghost for Mass this past weekend. I'll be doing it again this weekend. I don't mind the 50-mile commute there. Beats a 40-mile commute to my former parish by a longshot, that's for sure. :-)

Anyways, here's the lineup for the forthcoming weekend.

JULY 24, 2005
SUNDAY XVII

Processional: LOBE DEN HERREN - Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (Missalette, #25)
Psalm: Grail/Gelineau/Batastini - Lord, I love your commands
Alleluia: Mode VI
Offertory: HYFRYDOL - Church of God, elect and glorious (Music Issue, #411)
Eucharist:
- Sanctus and Agnus Dei: Vermulst - People's Mass
- Mysterium and Per Ipsum: Danish
Communion: Lafferty - Seek ye first the kingdom of God (Music Issue, #447)
Recessional: ST. ANNE - O God, our help in ages past (Music Issue, #450)

MUSIC for SUNDAY XVI at HOLY GHOST CHURCH

JULY 17, 2005
SUNDAY XVI

Sat. 4:30 / Sun. 7:30, 9, 10:30

Processional hymn: GROSSER GOTT - Holy God, we praise thy name (Missalette, #34)
Psalm: Alstott - Lord, you are good and forgiving (Missalette, page 39)
Alleluia: Mode VI
Offertory hymn: IN BABILONE - There's a wideness in God's mercy (Music Issue, #422)
Eucharist:
- Sanctus and Agnus: Vermulst - People's Mass
- Mysterium and Per Ipsum: Danish
Communion hymn: Ducote/Daigle - Remember your love (Music Issue, #690)
Recessional hymn: NUN DANKET - Now thank we all our God (Missalette, #26)

Note: I've come to the conclusion that "Remember your love" is the only piece by the Dameans that I would ever touch with a 39-1/2 foot pole. In all actuality, the tune isn't bad at all. In fact, it's a gem compared to most of the stuff I've seen by them over the past 24 years I've been an organist.

Had a wonderful time at the parish staff cookout this afternoon at the Finelli family residence. Thanks much to Fr. Finelli and his parents for making it possible. Further thanks to the staff, who has been thus far a gem to work with. I had fun watching my son Brian smoke a few behinds in horseshoes. He could smoke me on my better day. BTW, for those at the cookout who may be reading this: can you believe Brian's only 12 years old????? :-) He's only two inches shorter than me, and I'm 5'11"!
