THE HOUSTON CO-CATHEDRAL DEDICATION...

...was celebrated in a world-class liturgy. I encourage you to catch the video clips here. Cardinal DiNardo really says Mass with class.

High points:
The deacon proclaimed the Gospel reading in Latin.
Cardinal DiNardo used abundant chalices - REAL chalices, not glass pitchers.
The music on the most part had a Vatican feel to it. Excellent!

Low points:
I've watched at least half of the clips on Channel 13, and I didn't find any low points at all.

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has a lot to be proud of. I can't marvel enough!
Peace,
BMP

THE NEW HOUSTON CO-CATHEDRAL

...is finished, and will be dedicated next week.

Video footage can be seen on Houston's Channel 13 (KTRK-TV).
RSCT to Gerald.

After seeing enough of the Los Angeles eyesore that passes for a cathedral and that giant Super Bowl trophy in Oakland (that Bp. Vigneron had the misfortune of inheriting from his predecessor), Houston's Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is a breath of fresh air. It's gorgeous. It's actually prayerful. It doesn't look like a glass concert hall, or a giant trophy, or a subsidized housing project. It actually looks like a beautiful house of worship, inside and out.

The faithful in Houston have a marvelous new Cathedral. Kudos to Cardinal DiNardo.
Peace,
BMP

LOOKING GOOD IN HOUSTON - Post #400

Click here to see photos a-plenty from the April 2 open house at the forthcoming Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston TX. Though this edifice is far from finished, it looks to be impressive. If you remember from previous postings, this Cathedral promises to have a choir loft. Look at the very first picture on the page. I see choir loft! The squared "arches" between pillars (unlike the pointy ones you see in Gothic-style churches) are quite nice. Reminds me somewhat of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore MD.

Keep up the good work, Houston!

Peace,
BMP
