Starting with this weekend, we put away the Picchi ("Cristo Risusciti") Mass and begin use of the Caudana ("Laus Tibi Christe") Mass for the remainder of May and all of June.
MUSIC FOR HOLY MASS
Prelude: Improvisation on "Nicaea" (Holy, holy, holy), taken after a Calvin Hampton prelude I once found in an issue of The Organist's Companion
Entrance hymn: Come now, almighty King, "Italian Hymn"
- This tune can also be found as "Trinity" and "Moscow".
Gloria: Messa Populare "Laus Tibi Christe", Federico Caudana
Psalm 8: R./ O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth, Sam Schmitt (PDF)
Alleluia: Chant, Mode VI (the familiar "do re mi do / remi re do la so / do remi redo do")
Offertory hymn: Holy, holy, holy, "Nicaea"
Liturgy of the Eucharist: Messa Populare "Laus Tibi Christe", Federico Caudana, and adaptations thereof
Elevation music: based on Psalm 150 by Charles Villiers Stanford
Communion anthem: the aforementioned Psalm 150, Charles Villiers Stanford
- This is a piece I first sang as an 11-year-old tenor with the boys'/men's choir at the former Holy Trinity Church in Central Falls, RI. The then-organist/choirmaster, Reuel Gifford, was a huge influence for me.
Post-Communion hymn: Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All, "Sweet Sacrament"
Recessional hymn: O God, almighty Father, "Gott Vater, sei Gepriesen"
Postlude: TBD
