On a Secular Music Note: Favorite Drummers

Those that know me well know that outside of church, I have a heavy appreciation for rock and roll, particularly that of the late 1960's and early 1970's.  I was quite perturbed when I read the top 100 drummers listed in Rolling Stone cat liners, I mean, magazine, when some of the really good drummers either were well underrated of didn't even make the cut.

With that, I have my own top 10 favorite drummers right here!  They are, in no particular order:

Jim Bonfanti (Raspberries, The Choir, Boxer, Abbey Rodeo)
Michael McBride (Raspberries' fourth album, Cyrus Erie, The Quick, Eric Carmen)
Danny Seraphine (Chicago, California Transit Authority)
Keith Moon (The Who)
Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel's longtime drummer)
Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Beck Bogart and Appice, Rod Stewart, Eric Carmen)
Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
Buddy Rich
Anton Fig (of David Letterman fame)
Max Weinberg (Bruce Springsteen, Max Weinberg Seven of Conan O'Brien fame)

Oh, can't forget Animal (ok, that makes 11, so what!)

There you go!

While those three didn't make my top ten, they definitely get a honorable mention.
