Discovered by some colleagues at the Contemporary Catholic Music boards, we welcome to the CV Definitive Blogroll Sacred Music for the New Millenium, promoting the use of sacred music in Catholic liturgy. Enjoy! Peace, BMP
Not a fan of OCP - I was recently asked to suggest another missalette service to a church. Which would you suggest? (I only know of two, OCP's and WLP's) Are there others? and what would you suggest a parish do instead of missalettes?
I'm actually a big fan of hardbound hymnals. You pay one price instead of a subscription, saving your parish bundles over a 5-10 year period. Of the "big three" publishers and hymnals currently in print, I consider GIA's Worship III to be the best. Outside of the "big three", there is the "Collegeville Hymnal" from Liturgical Press, and the smaller "Adoremus Hymnal". My most recent former pastor is actually a fan of Adoremus. Though there aren't many hymns, the hymns included are very good.
If you must go with a missalette (they all have their faults musically these days, I fear), I'd probably consider "Celebrating the Eucharist" by Liturgical Press.
Liturgical Press is at www.litpress.org. Adoremus Hymnal can be found in the Adoremus Society's webpage at www.adoremus.org.
