Tollite Hostias, Saint-Saens

Silent Night, choir & congregation
Postludium: Symph. V, Toccata, Ch. M. Widor

A note to the above: the 52 rank Hoffmann developed a nasty cypher right before the gradual, so I had neither celestes nor manual reeds for the remainder of the Mass. I substituted the Daquin Noel Suisse for the Widor as the Postludium. Hopefully the contact problem will be repaired by the feast of the Ephiphany, when I plan to give another go to the Widor.

Jason,
Congrats on your first post, brother snark! hehehe

Hey, that "In the bleak midwinter" - Holst or Darke? They're both good, but I love the Darke.

That was the Holst...those immortal Preraphaelite words of Rosetti are quite delicious, even if it was 75 degrees outside...

Cool! Reuel did the Holst in his concert with Pro Cantare 4 weeks ago - sounded really good.

One thing Reuel did notice when he played last night: I landed up calling the local Rodgers rep yesterday. He finally called me back this morning. The pedal board was way too close to the contacts, which explains why the middle E-flat would hit when I close an expression pedal. So he's supposed to be going down to check it out today. I'm waiting for the result.

Well, the contact on my swell B MUST be broken off in such a way that it's completing the circuit. I would much rather have had a dead note than a singing B as soon as you pull a stop. It's just gonna have to stay that way for a while until the holidays are over...alas.

Was this on one stop, or the whole division? If it's one stop, you could always pull the pipe out for the interim until it gets fixed. That's what I did at Holy Name. ;)

It was the whole division...I'm calling our local tech today, since I'm thinking the problem is in the console. If it's in the chamber, I'm gonna have to wait till our Schantz guy gets back down here.....
