IGNORANCE IS SUCH BLISS, EH?

This story from Clayton at The Weight of Glory.

Now - the GIRM specifically states:

66. The Homily should ordinarily be given by the priest celebrant himself. He
may entrust it to a concelebrating priest or occasionally, according to
circumstances, to the deacon, but never to a lay person. In particular cases and
for a just cause, the homily may even be given by a Bishop or a priest who is
present at the celebration but cannot concelebrate.

St. Joan of Arc has a different lay "speaker" nearly every week.

UPDATE: Gerald Augustinus over at The Cafeteria is Closed goes even further.

Peace,
BMP

I see they even share their pulpit with Lutherans. I recall there was a somewhat nasty scandal in Linz, Austria regarding this sort of thing. There, it was a matter of a Lutheran (female) pastor being invited to concelebrate the Eucharist. From the looks of the website, this St. Joan's outfit isn't too far off. Heresy in the guise of piety...or worse yet, "social concern". What a despicable temptation for souls...

Great stuff! I wrote about it on my blog now. I also put you in my blog roll - please do the same :)

I rant about the same kind of crappy music :)

Ha! Lutherans are the least of their worries.
They also had an abortion advocate PP worker give the 'homily' last year!
But, to my knowledge, St. Sabina's in Chgo gets the prize.
The REVEREND AL SHARPTON gave a 'homily' there last year.
Yikes!
