MS VS. MCW

Hat tip to Cantate Deo.

Edward Schaefer compares Musicam Sacram (the Vatican Document) to Music in Catholic Worship (the American Document) in this Adoremus article.

Enjoy!

Peace,

I heard Gonzaga at the Los Angeles ACDA Worship event at the new cathedral- was never more proud to be Catholic and they were the highlight of an other dismal worship "event" and convention as a whole. Edward Schaefer IS an expert.
I think that his perspective on the origin of the tension between worship modalities is right on the money.
With the pending indult, my pastor and I have had a number of informal conversations regarding the import of this "breaking news" to our rather large and respected parish. (I've long advocated the assigning of one scheduled Sunday Mass out of nine as a N.O. sung in Latin with propers, but the death of the previous pastor and the 2.5 year investiture of our new pastor put that on the back burner.)
But I can say that Schaefer's paper will be a valuable resource when the next conversation comes about.
