On April 19, 2005, Cardinal Medina-Estevez gave us the news:
"Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum; HABEMUS PAPAM: Eminentissimum ac Reverendissimum Dominum, Dominum Josephum Sanctae Romanae Ecclesiae Cardinalem Ratzinger qui sibi nomen imposuit Benedictum XVI"
Picture this: I had turned on EWTN and watched from my living room couch for a good 20 minutes before the announcement. Once the name Ratzinger was announced, I was screaming, yelling, jumping, and yee-hawing for joy as if the Red Sox had won yet another World Series! My wife didn't know what to make of it. Definitely the happiest day in my life as a Catholic.
