Congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes, a hockey team in the Diocese of Raleigh, winners of the Stanley Cup for 2006. Why two bishops in the picture? Oh, that's because Bishop Gossman will be retiring, and Bishop Burbidge will be taking the reins as of August 4, 2006. Now, boys, play nicely and share your Stanley Cup while you still can. ;)
Oh, the Hurricanes defeated the Archbishop Collins (Edmonton) Oilers 4 games to 3. Here are the scores:
1. Carolina 5, Edmonton 4
2. Carolina 5, Edmonton 0
3. Edmonton 2, Carolina 1
4. Carolina 2, Edmonton 1
5. Edmonton 4, Carolina 3
6. Edmonton 4, Carolina 0
7. Carolina 3, Edmonton 1
HERE IS YOUR CALDER CUP CHAMPION BISHOP!
UPDATED upon seeing Nick's comment: Yes folks, it's Bishop Rhoades, of Nick's diocese, Harrisburg. The Hershey Bears of the same diocese are the Calder Cup Champs, beating out the Archbishop Dolan Milwaukee Admirals 4 games to 2!Peace,

And our own Bishop Kevin Rhoades brings home the Calder Cup of the AHL, via the Hershey Bears.

Yes, and the Caniacs have gone nuts! I'll have to admit - I'm not much on following sports (unless it has to do with a round ball the rest of the world calls a football, and the World Cup.) I actually found out the 'Canes won the Stanley Cup when I turned on the tv this morning to the local morning news.
Plus, driving to work this morning, there were heaps of cars that had 'Canes flags flying off their windows, and "Stanley Cup Champions" painted across their rear windows.
Caniacs indeed! :-)
'Caniac here. :)
