Prayers for Ordinations

We ask special prayers for

JOSHUA RYAN BROMMER

and

JAMES EDWIN LEASE,

who will be ordained to the priesthood of Jesus Christ in a Solemn Mass this evening at 7 pm. The Most Reverend Kevin C. Rhoades is the Principal Celebrant and Ordaining Prelate. Both of these young men are also fine organists, and bring a thrust for orthodoxy to their ministries. It brings me hope (as does my ministry bring them hope) for the future of music and liturgy in the Catholic Church.

Prelude: Nun bitten wir den Heiligen Geist -- Dieterich Buxtehude

Entrance: Iubilate Deo -- Jean Lecot/arr. Joshua Brommer

Act of Penitence Form B

Isaiah 12: Owen Alstott

Salisbury Alleluia

Litany of the Saints: chant

Investiture and Kiss of Peace: chant

Offertory: Love is His Word / JULINORMA

Damn! that beats most of the Ordinations here in Providence. Can't seem to have one without one of the Minnesota Trinity here. Looks great, Nick.

It's a shame that there's been a temperature/humidity shift, and the tuning is really rank. I'm hoping to solo out the Entrance melody on the chamade in the introduction....sounded a little rank today when practicing....

Oh, and I forgot to mention - those two priests that are being ordained at your Cathedral: we need more guys like that in RI too!

Well, there are a couple here already as pastors that are really good: Frs. Kevin Fisette and Jay Finelli. The late Fr. Rene Gagne did exceptionally well too.

Oh Nick, those are irritating. At one of the churches where I subbed at, they don't run the air conditioning at all during the week, so the temperature in the nave is a very warm 80 °F. Perfect if I'm in the cell culture lab, but not great for the instruments. Don't even ask me about the reeds on the little Holtkamp. The piano was also rather off as well.

LOL, sounds very familiar, Lyn, except that our air conditioning runs 24/7...the cool air just never makes it up to the choir loft and into the pipe chambers (I'd say we're a good 75' above floor level). So the chamade was off from the core of the instrument, and there are tuning and temperament issues throughout.

But it was fabulous!
